Round 4 - Oulton Park
What a start to the weekend, just as I was about to leave the van broke down, there was no way the poor girl was going anywhere! You could say I was very lucky to then catch a lift with Stewys dad who thought it would be a good idea to show me a few hairy overtaken maneuvers on the M6! I think he would give Lewis Hamilton a run for his money.
Finally we arrive at the circuit "alive!" where the whole team got stuck in putting the awning and everything up. After a few tears and a couple of beads of sweat it was all looking good and ready to go for sat practice and qualifying. After the first practice we made some radical changes to the bike with gearing and suspension and then went 2 seconds quicker in the qualifier putting me 14th on the grid. After having a good chat with one of the technicians Steve, we made a couple more tweaks to bike and it felt good for the second qualifier so we could hopefully improve on my grid position for the second session.
For the second session the weather was not looking great and on the out lap with a few spots of rain on my visor just as I went into the hairpin I seen someone fall off in the tricky conditions. There was no way anyone was going to improve on there time so mostly everyone came into the pits with the weather umming and rrring... what to do whether to rain or to be dry. It then started to rain in the last 7 mins of the session so no one got close to there first qualifying time.
For the race the weather was holding off and it looked like it was going to be a dry race. With a good start I made a couple of places but just as I hooked second I hit a false neutral "BO**OCKS"!!!!!! but still managing to make a couple of places. Then on the second lap I made a pass on another rider going into the Shell hairpin up the inside not wanting to loose touch of the front group of riders suddenly it all went wrong throwing me off "I knew this one was gonna hurt" after what felt like about 5 minutes flying threw the air like Adam and the apple gravity pulled me down with a big OUCH!!!!! I was winded and everything was hurting but thanks to all the stewards and paramedics (Stubbsie) who really done a brill job in trying to make me comfortable checking me over it couldn't of been easy for them. "Sorry for any bad language" Also to Toby and everyone in the medical centre. "A BIG THANKS" for all of your help.
With a very uncomfortable ride to Chester Hospital in the ambulance where they x-rayed my wrist and ankle. You could see that my wrist needed a bit of work. We then drove back to Bath Royal United where they manipulated the bones back into place. I nearly fainted when they showed me the x-ray and they told me what they needed to do. After a night in hospital the surgeons where still not happy with the way manipulation went and told me that they needed to operate. This meant having it wiring together, they operated on Thursday and my wrist is now in a cast but I'm looking forward to getting back on the bike hopefully in 6 weeks time.
Thanks for everyone's support.
Big thanks to all the marshals and medical staff. Cheers Stubbsie!
See you all soon
