Season Review 2006
Last season started off in February by going to a freezing cold Brands Hatch on a track day. I remember it well; at the end of each session it was so cold I would loose the feeling in my fingers. Boy that was cold.... the night before the track day me and Stewy had to drive Leicester to pic up the bike, it's about a 2 hour drive from where I live. after the track day we had to drive back to Leicester to drop the bike off, this was a long round trip but my good friend Nico who said he would come along to give me a hand thought we would be going straight home from Brands. Me and Stewy thought it would be best to tell him that the m4 was closed and that we had to divert up to Leicester which meant joining the m1 then picking up the m42 then m5 back to Wiltshire. As you could imagine Nico was not very happy about this. What he thought would only be a 2 hour drive turned into a 6 hour drive home. Sorry Nico! Think he forgave us in the end though.
Looking back on my 2006 season I would be the first to admit it didn't go as well as I would have liked. The whole way through the season we where improving every race. The highlight of the season for me would have been the Castle Combe meeting where I was on pole and finished 2nd and 1st. This was a mega weekend for me with it being so close to where I live. I found my results got better from there racing in the superstocks. Donington had to be my next best result racing alongside the MotoGP. We finished in 9th and 10th in the two races. we new this was going to be tough season because the bikes we where riding where 04 bikes and Evan though the team done a brilliant job on preparing the bikes we could not get away from the fact that the newer bikes just had more horse power.
With the 2007 season well on its way STP racing have announced that they will be running an 07 MV Agusta F4 1000 with me as the rider. We flew to Valencia in Spain at the beginning of Jan where I got to test the 06 MV Agusta F4 1000, it was incredible! I had 2 sessions on the bike and done 30 laps by the end of the second session. We are hoping to have another test in Spain or Italy in February. Can't wait for the season to begin.
